Once again, the horrific Yulin Dog Meat Festival is about to start – on Friday, to be precise.
Dogs and cats are snatched from the streets, many of them pets, and rammed tightly into wire cages where they’ll stay, unable to move, as they’re transported long distances without food or water. Inevitably, many die before they reach their destination – they’re the lucky ones.
For those that survive the journey, nothing but a brutal death awaits them. They are beaten, burned or boiled alive in the staggering belief that the more suffering is endured, the tenderer the meat will be.
This so-called ‘festival’ needs to be stopped! With growing global pressure each year combined with a reduction in the amount of Chinese people consuming dog meat and more households having dogs as part of their families, fewer dogs are slaughtered for the dog meat trade across the country. The Yulin festival, however, still continues as people consume the dog and cat meat supposedly for good luck.
You can help add pressure to the Chinese government by adding your voice to millions of others around the world. Please sign this petition to bring an end to this atrocious annual event.
